Overview

Assistant General Manager (AGM)/General Manager (GM)

Assistant General Managers at Canada's leading casual dining restaurant, Boston Pizza, oversees the daily operations of the Restaurant. This includes the training, development, staffing, scheduling and performance management of the Front of House team members. This includes leading FOH operations and execute growth strategies. This role combines day-to-day operational management with a strong focus on sales, guest experience, and team development. AGM also demonstrate outstanding leadership abilities, believe in championing a fun and safe work environment and contribute to a thriving workplace culture.

Responsibilities

Operational & Financial Management

  • Oversee FOH operations, including scheduling, cash handling, and inventory control.
  • Manage alcohol ordering, waste reduction, and vendor relations to optimize costs.
  • Maintain labor costs (10–12.5%) and food/beverage waste below 1%.
  • Provide cost reports and implement strategies to meet operational KPIs.

Business Growth & Sales Strategies

  • Develop and execute local store marketing, social media campaigns, and community events.
  • Grow catering, private events, and new revenue streams to increase sales.
  • Target 5–10% sales growth during slow seasons and deliver measurable results.

Guest Services

  • Ensure a guest-first approach with consistent service standards.
  • Achieve a Google rating of 4.5+ and resolve 95% of complaints within 48 hours.
  • Monitor online reviews and implement service improvements.

Human Resources & Leadership

  • Hire, train, and coach FOH staff; conduct performance reviews and recognition programs.
  • Foster a positive, professional, and inclusive work culture.
  • Maintain employee engagement to keep attrition under 5% and develop future leaders.

Compliance & Standards

  • Enforce food safety, cleanliness, and AHS/AGLC compliance.
  • Ensure 100% adherence to Boston Pizza corporate policies and Alberta Labor Laws.
  • Maintain audit readiness (CBSA/Steritech) with zero P1 issues.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years management experience in a franchise or corporate restaurant.
  • Boston Pizza FOH experience strongly preferred.
  • Pro-Serve, First Aid, and Food Safety certifications required.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Flexible to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
